Making the most of my time at home, I fired up again. I was having issues with the fangun not being able to run in marginal temperatures, so I wanted to change that. I replaced the nuc to hold more pressure, and bumped up the pressure on the main ring to 450. The result: I made snow at 38 degrees today. The humidity was 12%, which gave me a wetbulb of 27.1. I’m pretty happy with the marginal production so far.

With cold air comes high wind. Been shut down for the day because of 40 mph wind gusts, but got in a 3 hour run tonight. Got the fangun dialed in a bit more, but I still need a better nuc setup. The trailer is running strong after a small rebuild on the Hypro pump today. Pretty excited for how things are right now!

Well, it’s been a tough year. I’ve been super busy with school and because of that, I’ve not had any time to make snow. Last night I fired up the trailer pump cart for the first time and ran that for 5 hours. It worked well, despite having a small issue with the pump. The air compressor tankless setup worked perfectly. Fired up both the fangun and the trailer in the morning for 2 more hours, and made a little bit. It was nice to be back into my element. Planning on running tonight.

Got my first design fangun into a testable state tonight. Fired it up and had some nuc issues, but got everything running well for 4 hours. Made about 2ft, despite the temps being in the double digit negatives.

November 22nd

Another marginal night here in the Northeast. I made a very basic cooling tower experiment tonight. I have a 250-gallon water tank, so I filled it up beforehand and let it cool. Then I slowly filled up as I ran water out, letting the air cool the water for an hour or so before being put into the pumps. I ran one gun with one pump off of the tank, and another gun off the direct well spicket. The gun on the tank made significantly better snow, but nothing super good quality. Overall a successful night, though.

I did some expirimental testing this weekend until the temps got barely cold enough. The problem was that I could run expirimental gun with the full 5gpm, but if I wanted to run just the tower gun, I needed a regulator, which was back at college, 4 hours away. After the testing, I went to my bed at 3AM, and I was laying there, really unhappy with the results.

So I went back down to the basement, built a very basic regulator valve with some extra 1/2 inch tubing I had laying around and a ball valve, and cranked up the pumps to 750psi. Ran the tower gun at max height despite the wind and made a little bit of that white gold.dsc00015_zps3qz15tb6
